This work breaches the conventions of religious art in a number of ways; by denying the distinction between the divine and the human, and disregarding the boundaries concerning religious faith, doctrine and dogma. The art places in question the meaning and legitimacy of not only the primary icon representing a number of religious denominations, but also the doctrinal truths concerning the crucifixion and the resurrection that was alleged to have followed.
