The Night Goddess
Nyx was the goddess of the night, one of the first of the ancient goddesses. In the cosmogony of Hesiod she was born of Air and with Light and Day, the first components of the primeval universe. Nyx was a primeval goddess usually represented as simply the substance of night.
The four different pieces that make up this sculpture were recreated and cast three separate times before all the elements were perfectly formed and acceptable to the artist.
