Stretched peacefully, Lau’s youthful innocence begs the question, why she is staring into the middle distance?
Is she is dreaming of accomplishments, or recent disappointments?
I began this sculpture in my apartment when I first arrived in Monaco in 1991.
Her outstretched supporting arm and crossed legs suggest a position referred to as the “coma position” in medical terms, contrast with her overall expression of innocence, beauty and oneness.
